Phagocytotic ability was more strongly increased by co-administration of LPS and ALA than by LPS alone. Phagocytotic ability was estimated using fluorescence beads. RAW264.7 was treated with 1 μg/mL LPS and/or 1 mM ALA for 24 h and incubated for 5 h in culture medium containing 1 × 108 particles of fluorescence beads. a Fluorescence microscopy observation was performed (left, phase contrast; right, fluorescence). b Fluorescence beads uptake was assessed as phagocytotic ability by using fluorescence spectrophotometer (Ex. 535 nm, Em. 570 nm).
